From the date we put the offer in to the date we closed, it took a total of 6 mtnhos. Most of that time was spent waiting for the seller's lender to approve the offer. Once the offer was approved we closed just about 4 weeks later. Trust me, they can take all the time they want and they aren't even required to respond to your offer if they don't like it. The chances of you closing in 2 weeks are very low. Your offer would have to be approved immediately and your mortgage lender would have to work overtime to get all the paperwork squared away to close within that 2 week deadline. More than likely, it won't happen. If you're hoping to close before the first-time homebuyer credit expires (you must close by November 30th, 2009) then I suggest you avoid a short sale all together.
